    Exclamation Help-Place name in Rosshire

Would someone who is familiar with old place names in Rosshire care to read
a copy of a certificate for me please, it provides the only clue I have to my gt.gt. grandparents marriage. My computer set-up (or my lack of ability) will not permit me to enclose extract here, so I would have to e-mail entire to
    you .

    Hello Eli
Thanks for sending me the image (not the clearest I ever saw!)
I read your gt grandfather's birth as:
    MURDO MORRISON
(born) 26th June 1870 5 hrs am Sands Gairloch
    Male
    (father) Roderick Morrison, crofter
    (mother) Mary Morrison m.s. Fraser
(date of marriage) 1847 [rest of line illegible but should read "January 16th")
(informant) Margaret Morrison her x mark sister not present
(registered) 11th July 1870 at Poolewe (signature illegible) Registrar
    -----
The on-line IGI shows Roderick Morrison's marriage to Mary Fraser in 1847, plus births of four children:
    1848 Janet (LDS submission)
    1851 Ann (LDS submission).
    1865 Catherine
    1870 Murdo

The lack of OPR registrations before 1855 may mean the family joined the Free Church on or after 1843 when it was founded.
The census indexes show other children including the above sister Margaret.
scotlandspeople.gov.uk should have the OPR image for the marriage. But it might not tell you more than you already know, i.e. the parties' names.
Hope this has helped a little!
