I have also sent a reply with some attachments to your home email. Yes please, I would like some information from the log of HMS Torch but not the whole document just any references to the time at Middle Percy Island and the visit to Port Curtis between 7-8 February 1855. Perhaps you may have more luck just scanning a few pages and then attaching them to an email. I have sent you an electronic copy of Chimmo's 1855 report to the NSW Legislative Council and an a brief biography on Frederick Strange written by Hubert Whittell in 1947. You may already have these?

Have you viewed these Patrick? Is there any mention of Frederick Strange?

Not in these particular Gilbert documents but they were well known to each other. Gilbert and John MacGillivray often stayed at the Sydney boarding house run by Strange's wife Rosa. Strange was also hoping to succeed Gilbert as John Gould's only salaried collector in the Australian colonies. What aspect of Strange are you particularly interested in? Yes, I have read these documents.
