Allington - Allington parish forms part of the borough of Bridport ( south coast)

Marriages 1570 to 1812 transcribed from the Parish Registers Marriages 1813 to 1837 ....
John DYMENT & Hister SYMES of Symondsbury married 05-Jul 1699. John SYMES ....
John WRIXON & Hannah WAY married 26-Dec 1780.

Powerstock and West Milton is south west Dorset, 5 miles north-east of Bridport.

there was a considerable seasonal migration from south west coastal ports to Labrador to fish for cod during the 16th to 18th c . The men went for 6 months at a time and many of them ended up with wives and families on both sides of the Atlantic.
