Default Census - Locke and Franklin at Bedminster

Hello .. I'm new to this B-G forum.

Can anyone help with my Locke family at Bedminster ?

Rachel Harding born 1808 at Llandaff, Glamorgan, married William Locke of St Fagans on 6th May 1827 at St Fagans, Glamorgan. They moved to Bedminster, then Swansea and then back to Bedminster I understand.
(a daughter Esther Locke was born in 1828 at Bedminster.)

Can anyone help with a death index check to see when Rachel and William died at Bedminster ? or census to see where they were living in 1851 or 1861 ?

Their daughter Lydia Locke was born c1840 at Swansea, Glamorgan. She married William Franklin I think in Bedminster. William was born c1841 somewhere in Gloucestershire from the 1881 census in the IGI - in 1881 William was a commercial traveller living at Beaufort Villa, Bedminster with children Rose LL born c1864 Glos, Percy W L born c1866 Bedminster Bristol, Amy born c1870 Bedminster, Thomas L born c1869 Bedminster Bristol, Ernest Albert born c1871 Bedminster, Bristol, Mabel E L Franklin born c1875 Newport Monmouth, Wales.

Is it possible to find the childrens' full names, when they were born and when/where Lydia and William died ?

Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

    Best Wishes from Wayne Brown

    Default Lydia Locke

Now, I can't find Lydia Locke anywhere in 1851 -so I wondered if she may be listed under Harding. I found a possible Lydia Harding who was born about 1836 at Bristol, Gloucestershire and at school in Somerset. Could she have been "adopted" by a Harding relative after her mother was widowed? It seems strange that she is not with her mother in 1851.

Maybe someone else may be able to find her?

    WOW !

Thanks Michelle. That's terrific. It raises some interesting new questions. Are there any later censuses after 1881 for Lydia and William Franklin ?

The John and Catherine Harding born 1805-10 listed in 1841 I think were born in Glamorgan. Can you see them in 1851 and 1861 ?

    Best Wishes, Wayne

    Default LOCKE HARDING FRANKLIN

Ten years on - just joined and found this thread - are you still looking for the names of the FRANKLIN Family ?

William Webb FRANKLIN and Lydia LOCKE ? They were married 02 Jul 1862 at St Mary De Lode, Gloucester, Gloucestershire, England. (William was the son of Daniel FRANKLIN and Elizabeth HARRIS who were married 08 Sep 1834 at Gloucester, Gloucestershire, England.)

Would love to make contact with any descendants of these people. William Webb FRANKLIN's father was an older brother of my great great grandmother Caroline FRANKLIN who married Thomas COCKS 04 Mar 1845 Cheltenham St Mary, Gloucestershire, England.

    Cheers from Hamilton, New Zealand

Hi Leith and welcome to the British-Genealogy forums
A you say this thread is 10 years old and Barratay hasn't been on the forums since 2013. Hopefully they still have the same email address as back then so should receive notification of your post and come back to let you know where they are up to with Locke ancestors.

Hello Leith, thanks for the message. I had lunch with a couple of descendants in New York a while back, more are in Canada and a couple in NZ. Franklins are a side branch of my Harding family and I don't know if any of them have traced the tree as I have, but you never know. If you email me your Franklin enquiry to barratay - at - bigpond.net.au then I will forward it to them and you can see if they reply. Cheers, Wayne Brown
