Default Obtaining a Will from Dublin

The Irish genealogist, John O'Neill, very kindly told me thaat my ancestor had a will which he believed might still be in existance.

This is what he told me:

"A CHARLES KOHLER left a WILL dated 1856 ( which still seems to excist)
and this or another CHARLES KOHLER died 17th NOV. 1861 INTESTATE and it
was PROBATED In 1868 when his widow ANNE had already remarried to
WILLIAM HENRY BIBLE of POPES QUAY in CORK a builder."

Can anyone please tell me how I might go about obtaining a copy of this will without going to Ireland, as I am unable to get there sadly?

And can someone explain please! I thought that if a person died intestate it meant that they had NOT left a will... so how could they have left a will?!

Furthermore, can anyone please tell me exactly what John O'Neill means when he says that the will was probated in 1868. Sorry - I am a dumb blonde!

    Hi Spangle
I recently obtained a will from Dublin if you go to Natioanl Archives of Ireland put in the name you wish to search and it should list whether they have a will for that person, then follow the instructions on obtaining it mine cost nine euro's but it depends on the lenghth and content, it will tell you, the down side is it took nearlt two months to arrive
    Hope this helps. Jeanette
