I'm endeavouring to trace my great grandfather, Samuel McCarl, and searches of the BMD records in Scotland's people show only one death of the correct age group (age 45 at time of death)
His death certificate contains sufficient information to convince me that i've found the right guy but he seems to be "out-of-place" since his family were living in Kirkpatrick Fleming. His certificate shows he was killed on the railway at dalry.
Any information would be welcome.
Kind regards
John Rae

Could he have been working on the railway? There is a website to check on Railway fatalities but I can't remember it at present.
He could have been travelling for work or even on holiday as Ayr is was a popular holiday resort.
Have you tried to check if any of the local papers have archives ? I am sure if there was a local rag it would have carried the story with maybe some details or even just a death notice in either Dalry or Kirpatrick Fleming?

I'm not sure if this is the web site you were thinking of Joette?

Searching it there is a Samuel McCarl, labourer, the accident location at Brownhill in 1903 and the was GSWR. You can order a report from them too.
Good luck John

Many thanks for the link Jo, I've now ordered a couple of accident reports so hopefully they'll fill in some blanks in my records
I've just had an e-mail from the site controller and he advises he's had trouble with his service supplier so he's now operating from

I'm really keen to find out about an accident at St. Enoch Train Station, Glasgow and the link given - https://dwilcox.demonweb.co.uk/ - seems ideal but it is not currently working.
Any suggestions are very welcome.

Thank you for that link Jo.
My relative died of a fractured skull on Saturday, 9th March 1901, at 10:15am.
I'm trying to discover if there was a train accident at St Enoch's on that day or, if he was injured in the course of his work - he was a stoker.

Hi Jo
tried everything to get access to the web site nothing except my computer goes off line I suspect it is detecting an embedded dial up code
My Uncle Joseph Mansfield was I believe Stationmaster at Bowes Park Stn in North London (LNER) where he fell from a moving train was injured and was pensioned off sometime before WW2
Could you be so kind as to sweet talk the site into responding for me
Ever so Ta
Regards
