My G-G-Grandfather and mother James Russell and Julia (nee WEBB) came to Canada ca 1869 with thier two children Henry and Anne. Julia dies of comsumption in Owen Sound Ontario in October 1870 leaving James and the two children on their own in a new land. James remarried to a Canadian girl, Jane Meabry of Derby township and they had several children to add top the family. In 1882 they came west to the Canadian praries and homestead near Dunrea, Manitoba. James died in 1910 and Jane in 1931.
James apparentley came from a family who worked in the banking industry. He was born in Richmond Hill, Surrey in 1841. He apparentley went to sea for some time prior to coming to Canada as may have lived in Hastings area as his oldest child Henry was born at St Leonard's on the Sea, Sussex.
Ca 1900 he travelled back to England for a visit with family and we have a photograph of him and his brother George Russell and niece Emily Russell taken in Putney, Surrey.
We have lost all track of any UK Russell family members and would love top hear from any descendants of James Russell, Julia Webb, or George and Emily Russell.
