    Default Waiter!

Is there any occupation in agriculture that might be described as a waiter? I have once again received a marriage certificate in which all the details are correct except for the Fathers occupation which I would have expected to say ag lab or labourer.
I think this might be a case of trying to appear better than one is.
    Many thanks
    Carol

I do not think so, the wedding took place in the june quarter of 1874 and his sister had married in the march quarter of the same year, she gave their fathers occupation as ag lab. Then there was a big gap until 1881 when another brother married and gave the fathers occupation as waiter!
These two brothers married away from the family home and into families who were "better off" than theirs so unless there is another Henry Amos Tracey, I think he might just have been economical with the truth.
