I hope someone might be able to help me. My g.grandmother's birth was registered on 21 June 1881, and states that she was born on 22 May 1881, at 24 Vincent Street, Balsall Heath, Kings Norton in the County of Worcester. Knowing her date of birth, I would have expected to find her parents in the 1881 Census at the same address - but searching by name thus far, have failed to find them. I then thought I'd try searching Ancestry's index by road - but can find nothing for Vincent Street, Worcester (or indeed Warwicks which I inadvertently tried also).
The parents I am looking for are Caroline Ada Kuntze (nee Brown) and Frank Kuntze. Frank is described on the birth certificate as a "Hotel Superintendent" - although he was a "Waiter" when he married in 1878, and a "Waiter in Hotel" when his son Hermann was born in 1883.
Can it really be my bad luck that both the family name is incorrectly indexed and the address is mistranscribed?
If anyone can give me either a full or partial reference for Vincent Street so I can find them, I'd be gratefull!
Many thanks,
Karen

Vincent Street, Balsall Heath - 1881 Census
Your Gt Grandmother was born after the Census , so it is possible that her parent's were not resident at that address. on April 3rd when the Census was taken.
I have checked LDS 1881 also Ancestry and like you am anable to find her parents in 1881 or 1891
Have located her parents and siblings in 1901 , let me know if you would like the details !

Lottie,
Thanks for the 1891 index information. Koonze makes sense as my grandmother told me many years ago that that was used as an alternative spelling (and later on I think Hermann changed his name to Basil Kay). I didn't know they'd lived in Bournemouth though! ... although I did know that they were running the South-Western Hotel in Southampton by 1901.
Oh, well back to the drawing board for 1881. If anyone can find out who was living at 24 Vincent Street, I would still be intrigued to know!
Thanks again!

Lottie,
Many thanks ... you are a star!!
So they're right where they should have been ... just badly transcribed!
Thanks again!
