I have noticed quite a few posts of one sort or another relating to police forces, prison warders/officers and prisoners. Can I suggest a new topic in the Occupations section dealing with the all those jobs relating to criminal behaviour.
A small anecdote.
My G.G.Grandfather was a Sadler and Harness Maker in the east end of London for many years but then somehow ended up in Parkhurst prison, where he died in 1882. On his death certificate it states that he died of 'Natural causes in prison' and that his occupation was 'Convict'. I guess they couldn't ask him what he did.
So the 'official' view would seem to be that being a convict was a valid occupation.
