Through the wonderful responses to this thread we have found that there are descendants of John McCALL and his wife Jane, nee MARR, living in America, Australia and Scotland, who are actively researching this family.
We have been given a link that has taken us back two more generations to James MARR and Janet GIBSON who were born in Ochiltree, Coylton, Ayrshire circa 1750. Their known children were Jean MARR 1767, Grizel MARR 1775, Dennis MARR 1777, Janet MARR 1787 and John MARR 1790.
Dennis MARR married Margaret Ritchie. Their daughter, also named Jean MARR, born in St.Quivox in 1802, married John McCALL in 1820.
So far, no one seems to have discovered where John McCALL and Jane MARR lived, prior to moving to the Wheat Sheaf Inn in Monkton. We'd be very grateful for any advice that could help us in our quest to find that information.
Many thanks for all of the help we have already received since the start of this thread.
