  2. "The Homes for Little Boys, Swanley, Kent"

I would like to get in touch with any one who was at the Swanley, or descendents of any one who was there as a boy or staff member between 1883 and 1955. It was known as a Naval Orphanage and many boys joined the Merchant Navy or the Royal Navy.

  3. Question Godfrey Ermen school in Salford...

My mother recalled that she attended the Godfrey Ermen school. Born in 1922, is there no way to verify this information due to the 100 year rule? The school has been unresponsive to my inquiries. Would a local researcher be of any assistance? Thanks in advance, Odie Waters Boerne Texas

  6. Ashford, Staines 1911 onwards

Dear all, can anyone tell me where and how I would find school records for Ashford, Staines? I'm hoping school...

I have just discovered the records of this school in the Guildhall Library, London. I knew from the 1841 census that Alfred Bosher (the name of my g g grandfather) was a pupil. I have been reading the 1842 mine condition reports that can be found on The Coal Mining History Resource site, and these talk about "common schools" and "dame schools".
