Hi I am having problems adding a scanned image to a post. When I have checked under Additional Options it states that I cannot add attachments and I do not know how or where to change this function. Help please.

  2. Backing up my "My Heritage" research on disc.

I am going to try to back up my research project on My Heritage to a disc as it is only on my laptop at present and I don't want to lose it. Has anyone used My Heritage and managed to transfer the files to a disc? I hope this is the right forum for this thread.

  5. Question Scanning photos on textured paper

I have a batch of family wedding photos which are printed on a textured paper (a sort of canvas-like texture). When I scan these, the tiny indentations really bounce the light out and it looks like it's snowing! I have tried scanning at different resolutions, but the problem remains. It's not to...

My sister sent me video CD's of family films and I have been able to capture some 30 images of still shots. The film quality is poor and the images are quite blurry. My question is : 1. 7. Smile Help uploading a photo please!

In the last few days I read a post that explained how to upload a photo into a posting but now I can't find it - should I have marked it as read or something? Anyhow I've got the photo on Photobucket and copied and pasted the link into my posting using the insert image icon but when I reviewed it I...

  9. Question Old Maps

Hello everyone I want to get old maps into my tree. What type of scanner or camera would libraries allow you to use? My hunch is they would be more tolereant of a "column by column" PORTABLE scanner that fits in one's pocket and can be moved over a stationary document Any ideas? John

Hi all I would like to post an extract of an old document into a post so that I could ask for help with the handwriting. Previously I've managed to post photos using photobucket, but this extract isn't exactly a photo - the document is a will from TNA and was made available for my download...

  11. Microfiche Scanning - 35mm film scanner

Hi Everyone I really struggle to get time on the fiche readers in my library and anyway they make me feel sick so I have tended to avoid buying fiche which is very limiting. So I HAD to find an alternative. The OHP didn't work (!) so I am now using a 35mm film/negative scanner and I am...

  13. Microfiche Scanning

I've been trying to find a way to get my family history fiche onto CD for ages. The film scanners available from computer shops don't do the job, and the professional scanners I could find cost thousands of pounds. After much searching I managed to find a company in the UK that did the job for...

  15. Question Scanning 2 page document into 1

I know how to scan to pc with 1 page docs. Saves as .jpg and then I can attach to email, but how do I do a 2 page document and incorporate it into a single file for attachment. It seems silly to have to send both pages separately. I have acrobat, vista, Ms Works, Open office. I have found...

  16. HP Scandesk 4890

A few years ago I bought this scanner with the bold purpose of digitising the hundreds of slides and over a thousand negs from days gone by. 19. Now where was that taken?

Itís great fun scanning all those old family photographs and slides on to your PC. It gives you a chance to reminisce about the good old days while youíre doing it. 20. A SCANNER IN THE WORKS

My scanner isn't really up to the job of scanning old photo's so I'm looking for an all singing and dancing one. I have my eye on the, Epson Perfection 4490.
