  2. Harrow weaver

This ancestor was in Spitalfields area of London during the 1860s (born 1828). I believe that he was an immigrant from the Continent. He was quite insistent that he was a Harrow Weaver. He didn't as far as I know live at Harrow. It could be an anglicised form. I believe that he may have also been...

Hi, on a marriage cert I've got from 1919, the man's occupation is a Striker, does anyone know what this is/was? His father before him was a signalman and I know working on railways ran in the family. So would a stiker be rail related? Any advice appreciated - thank you!

  16. Occupation - Parishioner

Hi, I have an ancestor who worked all his life as a coal miner, but at the age of 78 at the 1871 Census, near Seghill, his occupation (bit difficult to read) looks like 'Parishoner' (presumably Parishioner). So I would presume he and his wife are now the recipients of charity from their church. ...

Hi. In 1919 France Beaumont Vousden (b. 1895) was a 'telephone operator' working in West London. Can anyone tell me where she might have got her training, or who she may have worked for.
