I am looking for information on the birth of J Riley. He was born in 1817 and he died in England around 1869, his wife's name was Anna Riley nee Gray. they are mentioned on the 1861 census in Staff's Uk, but I cannot find his birth place which was Scholan. hope some one has some info.

Welcome to Brit-Gen Ted. here's the 1861 census just to give some background for those who want to help
RG9/1931/85/35
10 New Street Stoke upon Trent
John Riley 44 labourer
Anna 42
William 17 Potter
Michael 9 factory boy
Thomas 5 scholar
All born Scholan (looks like that to me on the image) Ireland. So they haven't been in England very long as Thomas was born c1856 in Ireland

I wonder if the place of birth might be Srowland, which is a townland just north of Athy, in Co Kildare. It's in the civil parish of Kilberry.
