Looking for an overseas death certificate

Hello,
I am looking for a death certificate for Luis Blanco born 1871 in Liverpool.
I have found the volume (34) and page number (196) of his death in Geneva, Switzerland, however when I enter this into the GRO index on the UK gov site, nothing is found.
This is the source: Gro Consular Death Indices (1849 To 1965)
Death year: 1936-40 Record set: British Armed Forces And Overseas Deaths And Burials
Age at time 69 years which gives a birth year of 1869, however he was born in 1871.

Am I doing something wrong? I have a copy of his marriage certificate - also married in Geneva.

Quite possibly.
I have a feeling that you're trying to order it from the index for England and Wales only.
From the main page you see after you've signed in to the GRO website, on the top left of the page you should see 'order a certificate or PDF'. Click.
Next page is headed 'start application' and it asks where the event was registered. You need the third option of 'outside the United Kingdom'.
Then just click the radio buttons as appropriate.

For year of death I would put 1939, because the GRO will search the nominated year, plus a year either side. The actual year is more likely to be 1940 because 1871 plus 69 equals 1940. Remember to also enter the name as Luis P, otherwise you'll likely get a 'can't find' response.

I think you have to provide a Reference No in these cases - this is the "Line number" provided by FMP. In this instance it's 109.

Thankyou both. I was doing something wrong!! Whoops.
I have ordered it so fingers crossed. Unfortunately they didn't offer the option of a PDF, which is what I usually get because I am in Australia and postage is a rip-off.

There is currently no PDF option available for either any marriage certificates or any overseas certificates.
Nor for birth certificates issued 1925 or later.
Just be thankful that we now have the option of PDFs for a lot of the certificates, as well as the even cheaper option of digital images. Twenty- four years ago when I began my research the only option was to pay for a full price certificate. Admittedly I think it was only six pounds at the time, but pro-rata to income it was a considerable amount to pay.

So I received my death certificate from the British Consulate. I have a couple of addresses in Geneva which is great, however there is no cause of death. I find this odd? I am sure there is a reason for it - anyone come across this before and have an answer? He died 3rd Sept 1940.

So I have since found out that only the death was recorded by his brother to the British Consulate. There will be an actual death certificate in Switzerland. I had another relative, funnily enough Luis father Pedro died in Pau South of France and someone very kindly on here located it and translated it. Hoping I can be lucky again. TIA.

I applied for a British Consulate death cert for a relative who died in Argentina. No cause of death on it.
