    Default WW2 Royal Artillery Regiments in South of Eng

    Hi,

    Can anyone help me understand the unit and any background that Ernest James EDGWORTH served in in WW2?

    From his service record booklet:

    Enlisted-> 15 March 1940 Yeovil
    Unit abbreviation (I believe)-> RA (CD) RY
    1/4 A & S Group 27C
    Rank-> Gunner

    He was from Gloucestershire originally. Is this a designation for Coastal Defence? Can anyone tell me what the unit's function was and where he would have served until 1946 when he transferred to the Reserve?

    Many thanks for any help, much appreciated.

    (CD) would seem to = Coast Defence, but beyond that I'd just be guessing.
