Default Tailor guild records / journeyman tailor

Hello everyone. I can see that there has not been a post on here for a while so I am not sure if this thread is being used. I am trying to find out if there was a guild at all or a central records location for people who were tailors in London during the 1880's? my ancestor came over from Germany during this time but I can find no records for him until the 1911 census. I know he was a tailor or a journeyman tailor for ladies so I was wondering if anyone had looked into this type of thing before
    thanks
    Lee
