Re #8, am I being dim? I can't see how the 1939 register can refer to bigamy in 1944?

The British Newspaper Archive has no hits for a combination of Robinson & Skotting, year not specified.

Believe it or not Lesley, amongst all the name changes and other notes, it does actually say 'bigamous marriage' on the 1939 Register entry for Eva Skotting.
Don't forget that when women married after the Register had been taken their names were changed to their married ones. Needed to enable new Identity Cards to be issued, and then later to keep NHS records correct.
Wonder if they found out the marriage was bigamous because of the entries in the 1939 Register?

Should have added that FreeBMD have Eva Skotting marrying Arthur W Robinson, September quarter 1940, Surrey North Eastern registration district.
    https://www.ukbmd.org.uk/reg/distric...20eastern.html
And Eva Skotting marrying Jobias (sic) Biallosterski in September quarter 1944 Marylebone registration district.
Page in the GRO Index says Jobias.

All that updating by hand.... Wow! I've not come across these complications before. Don't use the 1939 much.
