the London & China Express has 3 birth notices for children of George Reeves of China customs in the 1870's
26 July 1871 at Ningpo a daughter
16 November 1873 at Shanghai a son
4 August 1874 at Ningpo a daughter
can't find either marriage or death notices for the first wife.
Ancestry has the death record for George giving date 29 October 1888
Some of the children born to second wife Alice were also in China ? (e.g. Bernard born 1882)

an unnamed baby daughter of George & Alice died at Chefoo 23 September 1885. That record is on FamilySearch. This is probably the unnamed daughter born 29 August 1885.
Bernard Reeves born Shanghai 12 August 1882, son of George & Alice Ambrose.
the 29 October 1888 date for George's death is not from an existing tree, its from the original record on Ancestry and FamilySearch.

Diana in the 1881 census is living in Calne, Wiltshire. Census reference RG11/2035 folio 66 page 7.
1891 census is living in Bath. Census reference RG12/1934 folio 55 page 32.
1921 census has a Diana Sprawson, born 1874 in China, living in Bath.
Finally found her marriage - wasn't looking early enough!
December quarter 1900, Paddington registration district. Diana Reeves and Frederick Sprawson.

Fortunately woman are better at maths than men.
Basically, it is extremely unlikely that a baby would be born less than nine months after a previous baby.
What the newspaper, dated 10 January 1873 said was 'On 15th November, at Shanghai ...'
The 15 November never comes before 10 January, so therefore it must mean the November of the previous year, i.e. 15 November 1872. And it is the 15th, not the 16th, though I admit that the number is not very clear.Vulcan XH558 - “Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.”
