They are in Radford in 1871. Ref RG10 piece3503 folio20 page 2
In 1861 William gives place of birth as Nottingham but in 1871 Longborough Leics and his birth year is now 1814.
Hope this helps.

Have you tried contacting The Showmen's Guild of Great Britain. Also , if you Google 'Queens Road Manchester Fairground' it takes you to an article in Manchester Evening News about the fairground site in Cheetham hill. Probably the same site where William lived in 1901.

William Halford
The 1851 is so right it is almost certainly him.
https://www.freecen.org.uk/search_re...811-?locale=en
William on his death certificate in 1904 his age is given as 60 making his birth year 1844.
He is 7 in the 1851 census.
Can anybody help with Birth and Baptism dates?
Is this particular Halford Family active on any other Genealogy sites?

As grisel pointed out in an earlier post (# 11) -
Unless wife Ann from the 1851 Scottish census discarded the William she was living with in 1851 and took up with a younger man with exactly the same name, then the age of William - 28 - in the 1861 census is wrong. The various census marks make his age on the enumerator's schedule basically impossible to read. If I look extremely closely I could imagine that I can 'see' 48, but I wouldn't swear to it in a court of law. .
Re almach's find of a possible marriage for William and Ann in 1887, (post #7) and the reason for it being so late that possibly William already had a wife and therefore wasn't free to marry until his first wife had died, FMP have a marriage in their Leicestershire Marriages dataset for a William Halford and Martha Goode in 1835 in Hinckley. There's a William and Martha Halford living in Hinckley in 1841. William is a stocking m[aker], aged 30, and Martha is 25. Ages in the 1841 census were rounded-down to the nearest 5. e.g. if someone was 44, then their age would be recorded as 40. If they were 46, then their age would be recorded as 45.Vulcan XH558 - “Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.”

Thanks Pam
I am 100% certain that William in the 1851 Census is My G/Grandfather.
Bess fact about the stocking/knitting Industry and the connection between Hawick/Nottingham supports that.
"They are in Wilton which is the northern part of Hawick. Ann's sister Jane Sheen is also with the family and she is also there in 1841. Hawick, Notts and Leics were all centres of stocking knitting at that time which explains the moves."
Williams Brother John is actually born in Hawick
My purpose now is to try and reach the current Family Of HALFORDS who are descendents of the 1851 Census.
