There was a bit of confusion over an original post made by Maurice regarding Patrick in which he said

"I can’t find hem anywhere , Ellis Island records, the port of Boston."

I then posted a reply which said

"1. Where did your information about Patrick's date and place of birth, and his parents come from?
I remember there were several words before Co.Kerry and it would be helpful if you could clarify which of those is the parish/town etc, as it makes it easier for those of us whose knowledge of Irish geography puts us at the bottom of the class.

    2. You said that you'd looked at Ellis Island and port of Boston records. I presume from that that Patrick emigrated to the States. Have you found him in the US census? Do you know for a fact that he went to the US and not Canada, or elsewhere? Do you have any idea when he might have emigrated? Read the opening paragraph
    https://www.statueofliberty.org/elli...rview-history/

The castlegarden.org website 'is taking too long to respond' so I can't give any further help in that direction at the moment, other than to suggest that you do an internet search for 'Castle Garden' and see what other hits you get. This blog from Family Search seems quite useful.

If you could include the answers to my questions in your new thread it will save someone having to ask
    them."

So the two email addresses Maurice refers to in his first post are the Ellis Island and FamilySearch websites I referred to.

    Maurice, some more questions -

Are you just presuming Patrick emigrated, or do you have strong grounds for presuming he did?

Have you found Patrick in any US census?

Have you checked Irish records for him marrying, and having children?

The title states Patrick Quinlan but the post state Patrick Sullivan.Which is correct?
There a very small tree with Patrick Sullivan on Familysearch started by Maurice O’Connell. Also a link to 1930 US census but can’t see the info as it’s linking to My Heritage.

Pamela, thank you so much for spotting my error. I had a few problems starting a new thread from a post in the Quinlan thread and ended up going
It's supposed to be Sullivan, and I have now amended the thread title.

The tree you found is likely to be Maurice's.

Maurice, I asked if you'd found Patrick on any US census. Perhaps you'd like to share the information you have from the 1930 US census - wife, children, where they were born, any details regarding when Patrick and family emigrated to the US, etc. Not sure if the emigration date is asked for in the 1930 census; I know it is on some of them. If it is, then it would narrow down whether you need to look at the Ellis Island site, or Castle Garden.

Have you also looked for Patrick in earlier census to see if the 1930 details are consistent? e.g. in one census he may say he emigrated in 1900, in another he might say 1905.

Anything in the census about him becoming a naturalised American?

Exactly what information are you wanting/hoping to find?

    Hello Pam
Patrick Sullivan I don’t know anything about hem only his birth date I have searched every record Irish,American and Notting, the reason I looked at American because during and after the famine the Irish went to America in their thousands, the also came over to UK bur there aren’t any records because all of Ireland was under British rule.I find the Canadian records hard to form.
    Regards

Yes you are right for some reason she has Ann Neenan on some the Baptisms and Nancy on others I don’t know why this is the right family .
Bit still looking for Patrick Sullivan 4 Jan 1868 .
Hopefully I day I’ll find him.
