Lichfield Mercury, 20 Aug 1915
"The death has occurred in Bethnal Green Military Hospital of Michael Rimini (41), a National Reservist, who was knocked down by a train while on duty at the South-Eastern Railway between Woolwich and Plumstead. a week ago. A post mortem examination disclosed the fact he had eight broken ribs."
A separate newspaper report describes how he walked home after the accident and one of the 8 broken ribs had punctured the lung.
The age, 41, doesn't quite fit birth registration year at #5 above and various Census entries but #9 above confirms he is "your" Michael Rimini.
There is also a 1913 Electoral Roll entry under "Mick Rimini" , still at his 1911 Census address.

The Brockley News, 20 Aug 1915, newspaper carried a more detailed report of the accident and a description of his funeral. He was serving in the 26th Supernumerary Company, attached to the 10th Battalion, London Regiment.
In January the same year he had been knocked down by a train which required a 2 month stay in hospital."dyfal donc a dyr y garreg"

Thanks so much for all your very interesting data, is there anywhere where I could ask for more information on him, like an army service record? Here in Holland you can ask and get for free an army record of family, also from time they were in a colonial army in Dutch Indies.
Have a good weeken,d all the best, Paul. Pls let me have your real name if that is possible and allowed.

just found this:
His Story
Michael was born to Dutch Jewish parents from Amsterdam. He was born in Whitechapel in 1871. He appeared on the 1911 Census as a greengrocer, and was living at 83 Parnell Road, Bow. He died of pneumonia at Bethnal Green Military Hospital on 8 August 1915. Given that he does not have a Medal Index Card, it would appear he was a Home Service soldier who died before having the opportunity of going overseas, and obtaining a campaign medal.

If you revisit post #9 above you will see reference to WWI records being destroyed. In 1940 about TWO THIRDS (60%) of WWI army records were destroyed in a fire after an air raid. You are aware that Simon had 5 sons in the army. The only record that exists is that of John Rimini which has proved invaluable.
