For a guess the Haundel is Oundle, which would mean Woodenhuton is Woodnewton.

Full marks to Pam Downes - I initially read it as born in a wooden hut before I woke up!
And Neil Wilson, yes it was on a Nottingham(Basford)census entry, so thoughts along the lines of Annesley Woodhouse north of Hucknall wouldn't have been unreasonable!

I got confused when I saw W.C. as a birthplace in the census.
I eventually realised that it meant W. C. as in West Central, London.Vulcan XH558 - “Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.”
