    Default Hi Everybody I'm Back

Well hi to everyone who might have come across my name before, but many, many moons ago so I am not really a newbee but rather a disconnected soul. Due to ill health and many trips to several hospitals, which sadly remain on going, I have taken my eye off the ball so to speak and my various family trees have now got to be replanted.
I have been researching for a number of years and now have decided to take up the spade and replant as the files are becoming very dusty on the shelves.
I am searching the names of Westbrook [Kent family], Maynard, Lepine, Langridge, Talmash, Whitworth and Edmonds, the last two of which are mostly Hampshire families going back many generations.
In the past I have received some wonderful help from you guys, all of which has been very much appreciated and even meet a cousin of mine on the Langridge side of the family and we are in regular contact. In an odd twist we were born not far from each other and now that we are the furthest apart we are connected.
In the meantime I wish everyone, wherever they are in the world a lovely day.
    Regards Prue

    Welcome back, Prue.

As some research will have been done on the forum re your family names the 'first time around' I've had a quick look for those threads. If you could refer to any relevant threads when you post further queries it would save our members duplicating previous research.

If you begin a post something along the lines of 'I'm looking for Frederick Westwood previously mentioned in this thread https://www.british-genealogy.com/fo...ight=westbrook ' then people can see what information was found.
If there was more than one thread on a person/surname, then give all the links.

I won't guarantee I have found every thread you posted, but I've found some.

In the majority of cases there's now a lot more information available online than when a thread was started, so you need to check for additional PRs, 1939 Register, and the 1921 census, amongst other records. The GRO's own website
    https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/c...ates/login.asp
now has mother's maiden names for births registered from 1837 (previously only given from 1911) and ages at death from 1837 (previously only given from 1866).
It's also surprising what details you can find from newspaper articles, so the British Newspaper Archive (most of which is also available on Findmypast) is worth checking. As with all reputable sites, you can search for free, only paying if you want to see an item.

In your old threads where someone is listed as 'guest' under their username it means that they are no longer a member of BG and we have no further details (e.g. email address) about them.

Fortunately it was 'prue' so it was relatively easy to find her old posts even though a couple of her names generated thirteen pages of results.

I only found Prue's previous username by searching for posts containing the surnames she mentioned. As her original account had been closed it would have been impossible to have searched for any username.

    Hi Pam and Lesley,
Sorry that you had a bit of problem searching for me but I have to be honest and say I couldn't remember any of the names I used although I think I put the username down as Myjinka which is after one of the horses I had many years ago. I might have used Prue but I don't think so.
I have from time to time being searching the odd name and I know in all the files I have I printed off the replies back I had from several years ago although I think they were mostly to do with my own surname of Westbrook to which I had reached more than a brick wall. Loads of info but nothing to confirm what was right.
Will I am still busy doing a lot of pedigree research to do with horses I thought it was about time I picked up the reins and started the family tree again and with that in mind I am starting where I left off two years ago [I think] and that was with the Edmonds [Edmunds, Edmands and even written as Edwards] family who are my grandmother's mother's people. They virtually all come from Droxford in Hampshire which is about 10 miles or so from Fareham which I use to visit as a child to see said grandparent and my father always took the scenic route via Droxford which was a pretty little village back then although I suspect it has drastically changed now. Anyway I am restarting at William Edmonds born 1780-1847 and who married a Mary Cuzins [Cosins] on 28 May 179 at St Mary's and All Saints Church, Droxford and they went on to have 7 children and my grandmother is descended from his 4th son, George who was born in 1809 and who was married to a Mary Ann Gregory first and then Elizabeth Foster and it is their daughter Mary who was the mother of my grandmother Alice Talmash Whitworth.
From my original notes I have noticed that I have actually found out a lot of research but as there are so many Williams and Georges in the family at times I know I was more than confused.
Now unfortunately due to my cancer treatment I have what is called Chemo Foggy Brain and while I don't have it all the time, it comes and goes and when it comes, the brain debarks on a holiday leaving me more confused then ever.
I am really interested if it is possible to find out about William [1780] as I seem to have exhausted my lines of enquiries but I am sure he is out there just waiting to be found. George was a market gardener and it would appear that the family worked the land in various disguises with my grandmother being born on a farm in Borehunt.
    So best wishes to all
    Prue
