    Herman MARTIN joined the Yorks & Lancs on 12 May 1908. (Regt No: 607)
    Declared age 18y 7m, born Sheffield.
    Father: John MARTIN.

    He served his standard 4 years, then elected to stay in the regiment until 1913, in the name of Albert Herman Heeley MARTIN.

    His birth reg (freebmd) is Albert Herman HEELEY (Q4 1889 Sheffield)

    Which surname he continued to use is not known.
