Thread: Hillier tree

    Default Hillier tree

Hi I have been researching my tree for years and now not sure if I’ve got the tree correct.
What I have got confirmed by dna match is
Charles hillier 1859 Brighton- 1939 cuckfield
William hillier 1827 kingslere Hampshire wed Eliza-Mary ditch 1827-1909
There are so many alternatives routes for the tree to take I just want to be sure that I’m entering correctly. The dna connections don’t go beyond this point but that could be for various reasons
    Would appreciate any help.
    Thanks in advance

Hi thank you yes I have this information. It’s prior to this that is a minefield. As I said dna backs up this but I have so many options when it comes to Williams father Charles didn’t know if there was something I was missing to narrow it down. Thank you for your reply

OK, Sally, thank you for clarifying what information you're looking for. I don't have spare time now but will check in later and if no-one has added information I can take a look and see if I can find anything useful.

Sally, where does the information William was born in Kingsclere come from? He is entered on the 1861 census as born BOLDRE. I note his marriage information names his father as Charles.

    There is this possible christening.

    William Hillier
Christened 4 Nov 1827, Boldre, Hampshire
Father- Charles Hillier, Mother - Eliza Hillier

Maybe this is where the reference to Kingsclere originates

England, Select Births and Christenings, 1538-1975
    William Hillier
    Birth Date - 17 Dec 1834
    Baptism Date - 11 Jan 1835
    Baptism Place: Kingsclere,Hampshire,England
    Father - Chas. Hillier
    Mother - Eliz.
    FHL Film Number - 0973052 IT 1

From William's age in census and marriage the baptism you found almach certainly seems like the one but we now have to eliminate the 1834 born William to parents of the same name.

There are some trees on ancestry which have 'our' William Hilliar's death registration March 1/4 in Lymington reg district 1845. BUT the GRO index gives this William's age as 75 so not 'ours.'
