It looks like this might be Mary Jean Tassie who married Daniel Wright

Yes I do think that will most likely be Mary Jean's death, as well as little Jean's. So very sad. I can well understand why Daniel might have wanted to move away and make a fresh start after that.

    https://www.nationalgalleries.org/ar...s/thomas-annan

This is a link to the National Galleries page about Thomas Annan who photographed areas of old Glasgow where the Wrights had lived. Photos were from the 1860s/70s by which time conditions were very poor and the tenements were to be demolished.

I hope it is ok to post this link.

Thanks for the link grisel, and yes no wonder Daniel just wanted to get away from Glasgow where had lost so much.
With the help from you and jomot1 I ... make that WE.... have knocked down a rather stubborn brick wall

grisel, I would like to read what you have been reading regarding brush makers. There is a William Walden, a brush maker, in High Street London Road in the 1841 census .... perhaps Daniel Wright was visiting him in 1844 .... and met up with Mary Potter... speculation but entirely possible.
This all seems to be fitting together quite nicely now.
    Thanks
