    Smile MENTIONED IN DISPATCHES

Hi , I have found my father's WW2 Military Records and also found on forces-war-records.co.uk that he was 'mentioned in dispatches' SUPPLEMENT TO THE LONDON GAZETTE, 23 MAY, 1946 2445 his rank is noted as Trooper in 14th/20th Hussars.
My query is .. Is it possible to find out why they were mentioned in dispatches?
I can't see anything relative in the records I have acquired from Army Personnel Disclosures.
Thanks if you can add any information.

You haven't provided his name and number.

Your first step is to read the National Archives research guide -
    https://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/...lantry-medals/

Have you found the award in the London Gazette?

For WW2 you could try this one -

Thank you Peter , Yes I found the London Gazette pages 2444/2445 LONDON GAZETTE, 23 MAY, 1946
    My father's name was Edward G. Kelly Number 2578739 14/20 King's Hussars
What I know of his war service is that he enlisted in June 1939 and he was a tank driver
    .
The officer included in the mention is Maj.(temp.) E. B. STUDD (52702)
Thank you for the other links Peter . I shall look them up
