First of all I'll move this post to the Gloucestershire forum which is more relevant for the Bristol area.

Next, there seems to be several Horton families who may, or may not, be connected in Bristol itself.

Perhaps you'd like to start by giving the name of someone born about 1900, and giving a brief biography. e.g. Zebedee Horton, my great-grandfather was born in Bristol in 1898, the second son of Adam and Eve. His siblings were Rebecca, Samuel, and Timothy.

It just helps other Hortons to decide if they may be related to you, or not.
If you have a query about your family, you don't have to wait for another Horton researcher to come along. Our members are fully qualified to search for all names.

Thankyou pamelawagster and christanel with regards to the Scotland census I new they had traveled to Scotland to follow the glass industry they also moved from Scotland into Yorkshire before coming to st helens, there are still Horton families in and around st helens.
I wonder if either of you know the origins of the Horton family as I am led to believe they originally came from Ireland by ship landing in Bristol with the intentions of moving on to America before deciding to stay in Bristol.

I thought the Irish connection was just a tale as I found William Horton born 6th Oct 1694 born in Bristol.
