    Default Taken into stock

Hi, Could anybody clarify please. On the WW1 Service Medals and Awards Rolls there is a column which indicates if the medal has been Presented, Despatched by Post or Taken into stock. What does taken into stock mean? Was there a specific reason for this action? Thanks for any help. Miriam.

I would presume they have no contact details , either for the recipient, or if deceased, their next of kin

Thanks Mike, the man in question was a prisoner of war. Pretty sure they had his details up to his return from the war and probably after that.

Sometimes medals were refused by the intended recipients.
