    Default M.C winner mystery

    Vyvian Alfred TYLOR.

Hit a bit of a brick wall looking for a family member who won an M.C. No Gazette Entry for an MC found yet and the really odd thing is no Medal Index Card. Was officer and served WW1 in Machine Gun Corps and then appears in 1940 moving to Hampshire reg with M.C. after his name.

I have a photo of him and all matches, has his MC on and two 1st world war medals, one with a clasp for the Mention in dispatches which I have found a record of in the Gazette.

    Can anyone help?

No Gazette Entry for an MC found yet
Perhaps you were entering too much information. Searching on simply "Vyvian Alfred TYLOR" (with quotation marks) finds him immediately.

Don't forget this is OCR not a transcription.

Both the notice of his intended marriage (Sevenoaks Chronicle 13 Oct 1922) and marriage notice (Sussex Agricultural Express, 2 Feb 1923) include "M.C" after his name.
If you followed the instructions at #4 above (oh, the vagaries of OCR!) you will have found further entries. The 5th Feb 1915 entry was reported in the Western Mail under the heading "LOCAL COMMISSIONS - Officers in the Rhondda Battalions"

Search Gazette also under "vyvian a reynolds" (including the all important " " as part of search key).
"dyfal donc a dyr y garreg"

Search the gazette for "v a tylor" - 27 April 1923 sees him relinquishing his commission
"dyfal donc a dyr y garreg"
