Hi,
Trying to find my grandfather.
Born Gordon Cheyne Drummond on 12/12/1935 in Edzell Scotland
National service call in Feb 1956 to RAF (2786595)
Left service and emigrated to Christchurch,NZ in 1969 with wife Jean and 3kids,
Jean returned to the Uk in 1971 with the kids and Gordon has never been seen or heard of since!
Any help is appreciated.

Findmypast has a shipping record for him but I don't have a subscription so can't access it.

The shipping record dated 1970 states he’s in transit to New Zealand,married,occupation is Fitter & Turner.
DOB. 27/12/1934.

As he could be still alive, or recently deceased, is it worth inserting an appeal for help or information in a N Z newspaper circulating in the area of his last known address?
What explanation , if any, did his wife give for his non-return with them?

It should be worth a death certificate search for him. His wife might have intended to join him when he got things sorted out. Alternately, she might have remarried in the UK, indicating that she considered him dead.

it looks to me that Jean remarried in Scotland in 1991 (and died in 2020)
