Hi all
I hope you can help, I have found a relative 4 year old born 1906 Ernest Liester on the 1911 census at 23 Pool street, Macclesfield, Cheshire,
Relation to Head of house Nurse Child (Nurse ? can any one tell me what this means has it got any thing to do with his birth place Macclesfield, Union.
I know he did not stay with his mother as I found her working at the Ye Old Castle Inn Macclesfield,as a General Servant Domestic.
Appreciate any help you can give.

Definition found online.
A nurse child is a young child being brought up in the household of someone other than the parents,normally for money,unless the couple are relatives kindly taking in another family members child.

Nurse child = foster child.
Could well be fostered out by Macclesfield Union. Check what records from Macclesfield Union have survived - particularly registers of children boarded out.
