For now quick reply to thank
CHRISTINA Will study this later as have to go out now but please don't let this intrude on your
personal time
PAM
At quick glance not sure I understand that it has unravelled - have I gone wrong? No I haven't checked
the USA 1860 and 1870 census as can't access American records. Any info from there is from those I contacted previously ie Libraries etc plus it's somewhat difficult without more info/facts
In haste Jill

The only Beynon family with a son John I can find in Pennsylvania is the 17 year old with father Richard, my post #7. There is another Beynon family in PA father Lewis age 37 born Wales, wife Margaret born Pennsylvania as are the children. They are living in Ebensburg, Cambria, about 200 miles East of Tamaqua.
There are 50 other Beynon families scattered around the US.
Heaths Creek, Pettis, Missouri
John Baynon 37 coal miner born Wales
Mary Baynon 37 born Wales
John Baynon 7, right age but born Illinois.
William Baynon 7 months
Michael Murray 25 coal miner, Ireland

13-12-2021, 8:23 PM #14Father Howell Samuel 1835-1902 marries 1857 Cardiff Mary Jenkins 1839-1925In the 1870 USA census they are also in Shenandoah but return to Wales 1892 with some children where they both die.
Samuel and his family are on the 1880 US census with wife Mary, children Howell age 7 born Pennsylvania, Mary and Catherine both age 1 and both born Wales so Samuel, Mary and Howell must have had another trip back to Wales between Howells birth and those of Mary and Catherine c1879. I can't see a birth on the GRO for Catherine but there is one for a Mary mmn Jenkins March 1/4 1880 Aberystwyth. Which would mean they returned some time between the late November/Dec 1879 and June 1st when the US census was taken then returned to Wales again in 1892.
John Beynon 25 and wife Friswith age 20 are in the same house with daughter Sarah Ann age 1 born Pennsylvania. If John and Friswith went to PA with her parents then maybe their travel time can be worked out from Sarah Jane's birth record, but I haven't found any travel records yet.

Unfortunately, I can't add anything useful. It's frustrating that no travel records have turned up for John Beynon and family.Alma

There's a William Emanuel age 52, born Wales, in 1880 listed as a boarder in John Beynon's household
A tree on Ancestry (Whitmore family tree) has William's death
29 Sep 1880
Shenandoah, Schuylkill, PA. Coroner's Reports of Sch. County, Sulfer Explosion. A coal miner.
Perhaps John Beynon died in the same explosion.Alma

I was working on this just now so only seen the latest postings. Thanks again Christina and yes as ALMA confirms the 1880 census has Mary and Catherine born Pennsylvania. ALMA That might well be a brilliant find. In fact I had gone back to the 1880 census and seen a William Emmanuel as a Boarder age 52y born Wales so found a possible birth 1828 and then possible Marriage 1847 which I thought was correct as it's a marriage to a Jennet Bevan who is on my tree. It says Father William and that's Jennet's Father - I recognised the name Jennet but when I checked my Jennet was born 1840 so back to square one. However I had made a note to email libraries etc I had originally emailed in Shenandoah to see if they can find burial of John Beynon. John's middle name seems to be E so wondered if connected to Emmanuel but that seems to be just a guess and ruled out.
Is there any way I can find the Death Notice for William or shall I email my previous contacts in Shenandoah.? A reminder that on my tree for John I wrote "When John's daughter Sarah Ann Beynon married Isaac Thomas 21st May 1896 registered in Pontypridd, Glamorgan, Wales, John was recorded as deceased as per Marriage certificate." I'm very excited ALMA that might well put us on the right path! Jill In haste as usual.

Don't worry CHRISTINA - it's the thought that counts! Too late for me now but it seems that one of the definite facts I have is John Beynon's Marriage to Friswith J Samuel on 1st August 1878 in Shenandoah. Perhaps this is online or else those that have access to American records please could you guide me as to where I could find it registered. All for now Jill

John doesn't seem to appear on this list from Shenandoah from 1890.
Hope link ok to post. Please alter if not. Thanks.Last edited by Pam Downes; 14-12-2021 at 11:28 PM. Reason: link broken
