    Default Abbreviation RNWGO

Does anyone know what this stands for? My father's Army Form B200B, 16/06/1943, says "Posted to Draft RWNGO". He's in the Welch Regiment, and about to embark for India (and then on to Burma). He arrives at GHQ BBRC Deolali on 15/08/1943.

    Thx Neil

Neil your title says RNWGO but in the post you say RWNGO -

A typo Christina. RNWGO. And thanks, but I looked there - and elsewhere - before posting.

Thank you Sue. I did wonder about Royal Navy but couldn't figure out any connection. But of course he was about to embark on a troop ship to India, and had passed an AA course, so perhaps he was assigned to gunnery duties with the ship's crew. Makes sense to me, but did such things happen?

    Hi

They mean nothing, read here - https://ww2talk.com/index.php?threads...n-codes.50973/
Just an ID code for clerks, when men were posted overseas.
Some of the people posting on that forum were servicemen, so they should know.
