    Default Ancestors in Essex

I am researching my ancestors who left Essex for colonial America in the 1630s. These are the names I'm researching: William Baker (1616-1669, Dedham), Andrew Benton (1620-1683, Epping), Nathaniel Foote (1592-1644, Colchester), Joseph Hills (1602-1688, Billericay), Mary Humphrey (1601-1672, Great Waltham), Joseph Loomis (1590-1658, Braintree), John Parmenter (1588-1671, Little Yeldham), John Pease (1608-1677, Great Baddow), Rowland Stebbins (1590-1671, Bocking), and Samuel Wilbore (1595-1656, Colchester). I am planning a research trip next summer (I live in Williamsburg, Virginia, USA) and I want to have the best information possible before I come. I am specifically interested in parish and land records, but anything is welcome.

    Hello, and welcome to British-Genealogy.

To the best of my knowledge, neither of the two main commercial sites (Findmypast and Ancstry) have many, if any, records from Essex available. You will have to check the third site, The Genealogist (co.uk) for what, if anything, they have.

Most of the records can be found on Essex Archives' own website https://www.
    essexarchivesonline.co.uk/

You have to register, but can then search for free, before paying to see any indexes/images.
Further details of their subscription rates. https://www.
    essexarchivesonline.co.uk/subscriptionservice.aspx

Unless you know that you can devote a complete day to researching the site, it's cheaper to opt for the weekly rate rather than pay for two separate days.

Be aware that parish registers of those time often have minimum details in them. e.g. Son of John Smith was baptised 27 February 1620

Two free sites which might have information are FamilySearch, and FreeREG. https://www.freereg.org.uk/
