Thread: Shot at Dawn

    Default Shot at Dawn

Does anyone have information about the names of those 'shot at dawn' being included on War memorials. Was it a local decision made by the council or church or were the names always omitted? I apologise if this question has already been answered previously.

I'm don't know the answer, but you may find something useful on the article HERE about the Shot at Dawn Memorial.

After I wrote the above, I found another site HERE listing the cemeteries where the men are buried. Its introduction says that 306 of the 348 who were executed were granted pardons 90 years later. They say that the remaining 40 were not pardoned because of the nature of crimes that they committed.

Thank you for the links - they are very helpful.
