I've found that now, thanks. The address given is 40 Carville Road and I was hoping this might give some more clues, but the Electoral Register for 1914/15 for that address lists George Robert Richardson.

The nearest I can find is a Joseph Thompson registered about a mile away in 1912 & 1913 at 880 Shields Road, Walker.

I also have a possible 2nd Marriage for Joseph snr to a Lillian Kennedy in 1923 North Shields, not sure how accurate this one is tho.
Looks like your only option there is to order the certificate, and possibly the 1918 death certificate for Mary Thompson I mentioned earlier, as I can't find a burial or death notice to rule her in/out either way.

The witnesses to Joseph Thompson and Mary Cains wedding was Joseph's Brother James Thompson and Annie Thompson nee Collins.

I've ordered the possible death cert for Mary in 1918 so should have that in a few days.

I have the cert for Joseph and Lillian Kennedys wedding if it him, it states he is 43 a widower, a miner, lives at 17 or 7 Walder Street, father John Thompson also a miner.
Lillian Kennedy 27 spinster, lived at 57 Dockwray Square, father John Kennedy deceased, a cartman
