    He dies 30 October 1914 and was in the King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry. No mention of parents names or age at death. By the way his name is THOMPSON.

    Any ideas of where or when he was born? As he was in the Yorkshire Regiment, he was probably born in Yorkshire. But maybe not!

    On the list of Soldiers Effects, the column (to whom authorised) has the following written: Mother: Elizabeth Wood, sister: Mrs Annie Smith and Mrs Florence Clarkstone. Also mentioned is Step-father Thomas (presumably Thomas Wood)

    Possible marriage for Elizabeth Thompson and Thomas Wood registered 1908 September Quarter, Nottingham.

    There is a birth registration in Nottingham for a John Henry Thompson 1880 MMN Catling.

    There is a marriage registration in Nottingham 1873 Elizabeth Catling to John Thompson.

    There is a birth registration in Nottingham for Florence Thompson 1874 March Quarter. MMN Catling

    Do you think John Henry came from the Nottingham area?
