Alma you have done brilliantly and I agree that it would be much easier to help if census references had been given.
The reason I asked for the marriage details for Thomas and Mary Furnell is that I am doubting myself as to his parentage but if you are satisfied that is good.

    Hi Christina,

Do you mean if I'm satisfied, or if Grasshopper is? If me, I can't say I'm confident about the lineage without seeing certificates, there are too many possible Hills. All the censuses I posted are the ones mentioned by Grasshopper, as to whether they are the right ones.....the jury's out!

I'm inclined to think William's wife has been wrongly entered as Sarah and should be Rosanna.

William Hill widower a miner married Rosanna HARRINGTON 4th Dec 1843 Sedgley All Saints. Rosanna's father Joseph a forgeman, no father entered for William, both were living Ettingshall. Witnesses Joseph Aston and Ellen Aston.

Ettingshall is less than a mile from Monmore Green.

Sarah Hill age 24 of Monmore Hill was buried at St George Wolverhampton 27th Oct 1841.

I don't know if this is the same Rosanna(h) Hill, but it is very sad.

Rosannah Hill was sentenced to imprisonment for one month with hard labour for attempted suicide, 24 Jul 1891
