    Yes, I've just realised that, and was coming to ask what occupation was given for Brown Gillson on Elizabeth's marriage certificate?

    I was just about to post those 1901 census details, along with the marriage registration details for Alice and Harry.

    Alice Eliza Hukins and Harry Bidey, June quarter 1902, Hastings registration district.

    ADDED;
    Alice's previous marriage:
    Alice Eliza Heasmond and Joseph Hukins, December quarter 1893, Hastings registration district.

    Only likely death showing on FreeBMD is for a Joseph Hukins, aged 32, Dartford registration district, March quarter 1902.
    The 1901 census does describe Alice as married, not widowed.
    Yes I have him death 1902 she then goes on to marry harry Bidey

    I did find a Mary ann Gilson I wasn't too sure about whether her name was Maria at birth but it was changed?
    but why would it be changed and when? obviously before her marriage to Edward then
    was it because they had a child called Elizabeth and died I dunno,
