    Default Profession Transcribe

    Hi,

I'm struggling with deciphering this one

The first seems to be clear, "Pilot" but I can not transcribe the wording after.

This is from an 1891 census, so what's puzzling me, and I am making the assumption Pilot is referring to aircraft Pilot (which maybe I'm making a mistake), but there were no aircraft as such around in that time!

Just googled what a Barge driver is called, and they are indeed Pilots. I never knew that!

As usual I know exactly what it says when others point it out.

For info on the Gloucester & Sharpness Canal, together with a list of Pilots, as opposed to "ordinary" barge drivers, see here
