    FMP has the Catholic burial of a Thomas Farrell, died 15 Feb, buried 20 Feb 1895, age 39 - address 16 Dagmar Street.

    You can find the family in 1901 - minus Thomas Snr. The children are recorded as "step" under Farrell, with head of household a Charles Fitzgerald, wife Margaret.

    I note a couple of occupations involving ropeworks.
    That's fantastic, thank you! The occupation being rope makers is interesting, it does seem as though they were all in the same vicinity. I'll have a look and see if it helps confirm or deny the hypothesis.

    I think I've cracked it! They seem to be one and the same, which is very strange. In 1901, living with my GGGrandmother Margaret, he is 16 and a bricklayer's apprentice. In 10 years later, at 26, he is living with Annie and Daniel, as a bricklayer. Daniel (his nephew "in law") went onto marry his sister's daughter!
