Default Looking for John Phillips b. 1660 Pembroke

    Hello,
I need help finding John Phillips b. 1660 in Pembrokeshire married Elinor/Eleanor Haward.
My earliest ancestor is his son Griffith John who emmigrated to America in 1709.

Some believe John may be related to the Philipps of Picton but I can't find source info on this in the English Baronetage or Heraldic Visitation. As I am in America I don't have access to Welsh online library data.

There is a note in one document stating he is the ancestor of Ralph George Phillips, but I can't find him either.

Any help welcome, this has turned into a wall at this point.

The National Library of Wales has a Dictionary of Welsh Biography and by searching on Phillips Picton you many hits, not all of which will be relevant, but it might be a starting place for you:

Thank you for the warm welcome. I did see that, however, upon further inspection, the English Baronetage of 1741 stated that Ann Perot was also married to John Philipps and bore all his children. According to this reliable source, Marjory didn't have any children with John.

If there is source information to prove otherwise, please let me know. This is the only reference I have seen to Ralph George Phillips. I have not been able to find him anywhere else in Peerage or Baronetage.

I wondered of you were referring to Wotton's 1741 Baronetage - confirms part of the tree I referred you to but a great big blank re the rest!

Just appreciated the significance of " the English Baronetage stated that Ann Perrot was ALSO married to John Philipps ...". Wotton's says no such thing - only mentions the one marriage to Ann Perrot - no mention of Margaret.

Thank you. It was Wotton's I was referring to: https://www.google.com/books/edition...J?hl=en&gbpv=1 on page 460. Did you find a reference to Ralph George Philipps in Wotton? If so, please indicate reference, would love to see read it.

I did find a reference to Marjory Dennis at: https://www.google.com/books/edition...J?hl=en&gbpv=0 on page 176 of the document.

    Again thank you.

Re Wotton's, Ralph George Philipps falls under the "great big blank"

I think I found Ralph George Phillips. In a book about early settlers of Bucks County Pennsylvania there is a chapter on a George Phillips with all children by same name as stated elsewhere. This has to be him.

Page 416 of the book and 447 of the viewer. Page 448 has his children. He was married to Patience Griffith.

Thanks for the Private Message but if you have a query please use open thread/post.

I had looked at the Bucks County document. How are you able to ignore the absence of the given name "Ralph" in the history (and will) of "George Phillips, one of the earliest settlers in Richland ..."? I appreciate how discounting the first given name does make it somewhat easier to progress.

I did not see a will for George Phillips in the book. Where did you see that? I only saw the name George Phillips. I read through the chapter again and did not see reference to Ralph or the will. Please let me know where the reference to Ralph is found. I wasn't trying to discount the name, rather when I found this George and the names of his children, it matched the description of my great great grandfathers book speaking about a Ralph George Phillips, childrens names matched too closely to be coincidence.
But you mentioned a will, where is that located?
