Hi everhyone.
Esme Kathleen Cole daughter of well known magician The Great Levante in the 1940s and 1950s.
according to a news report on wikipedia
Esme married Robert Butt on stage in England on 15 No 1941.
cut I cannot find a marriage documentation.
Also cannot find her returning to Australia under Cole, Butt.
Esme remarried in 1949 to George Hunt in Australia.
I have ordered her Australian death cert but that will take a couple of weeks to arrive.
I was hoping to find info in England.
her parents were: Leslie George Cole and Gladys Pretoria Cole nee Costin.
from wikipedia On 15 November 1941, Esme Cole married another member of Cole's magic show, Robert Butt, on stage.[
thanking you
Doreenh

The reference of the marraige on Wikipedia is from a newspaper Barrier Miner. The article states the show was in Adelaide not England.
‘Last Saturday week, during an Ade-
laide season, his daughter was married
on the stage to Mr. Robert Butt, who
is also in the show.’
Would a marraige on stage be legal at that time?
On the marraige in 1949 to George Hunt what is her status? Single, divorced, widow?
Pam.

the marriage gets lots of mentions in Australian newspapers. It was performed by Rev S Forsyth of the Central Methodist Mission who is quoted as saying "the service would be quite orthodox". The newspapers all seem to call her "Miss Esme Levante"
