Great find Alma and it certainly makes it more complicated!

If John Lees is genuinely a nephew, one would have to establish a family connection between Elizabeth Lees and John’s mother (Sarah Lees?). Could they be sisters or cousins?

On the other hand, ‘nephew’ could be a euphemism for ‘illegitimate child’.

Either way, John could still be the one baptised 1848 Lichfield.

    Another excellent find, harle769.

It looks like Sarah’s employer in Richmond, John Hunt Gosling, married his wife Mary in Aston, Birmingham in 1841. Perhaps Sarah joined the family as a nurse before they moved down to Richmond.

That could explain why John was left with the Richards family in Rugeley.

If, indeed, one accepts that John is Sarah's son.

Perhaps this is the same John Lees as in my #12 above.

    That's disappointing for you.

I need to get my head around the Adey connection in your ancestry and how it connects to JRL.
