Hello
I am trying to find information on the RAF barrage balloon squadron 930, based in Manor Farm Road, Southampton.
My dad and uncle drove the Hydrogen tankers so am also looking for information on the transportation of hydrogen during WW2.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi
It looks like the hydrogen was carried in gas cylinders and the cylinders carried on a trailer behind the winch lorry. There is a brief description and photo here

“Before they were permitted to drive these lorries they had to pass quite a rigorous test. Part of the test route was Redbridge Hill in Shirley by the fire station where they needed to demonstrate that they could perform a perfect hill start with a fully loaded tanker. The test instructor would confirm this by placing a packet of twenty cigarettes tight against the rear wheels, the incentive being that they could keep the fags if they pulled away without slipping back."
