    I never thought of that and makes sense. Thank you I have contacted the Co-operative where he worked in 1911 to see if they have records to indicate when he left. Good idea to work on eliminating those Harry's he clearly isn't. Thank you for your help.

    That is Harry Fry Davenport his son who lived at that address. I'm afraid that there was also a lot of birth date and surname changing depending on what mood he was in or what form he was filling in. loads of errors on other people's Ancestry family trees because of it!

    ** H Ivy Davenport *** age 9. On the image it reads *** H Fry Davenport.*** I take it this is the son?

    Thank you yes that's him. It's the gap between 1911 and 1923 that I'm struggling to fill, except that he went to war. We don't know what regiment, when, how long, only that he was there. He didn't actually talk about much apparently. he had a hard life at the beginning, and we are pretty sure that he would have seen action, so totally understand him not talking much.
