Transcribed as Parlin on Findmypast and Patton on Ancestry. Third letter is definitely not an R (see Mary, married, labourer). I think it's an X written 'upright' instead of on its side, if you know what I mean.
Census reference RG14/30201 SN78. Richard aged 60, though Mary is only 51. Both born Sunderland, and Richard's occupation of labourer (dock) fits. Both visitors in the house of Michael Welsh.

I'd agree - despite the transcription errors.
The address on that 1911 census is 4 Spenceley Lane - which I can see, in the burial register, is the address where Mary Ann died the following January.

Thanks for confirming my suspicion, and also for all the extra details you've been able to provide about the family. (I reckon MTS stands for Magic Twinkling Star. )

I like to think of Sunderland as my 'specialist subject'
I've got a number of maps and street photos to pass on, as well as the burial register I mentioned.

Here's a link to the Sunderland Boy's Industrial School that George was in on the 1901 census
    https://www.childrenshomes.org.uk/SunderlandBoysIS/
On the 1919 map shown on there - Vine Street where the family lived in 1881 - is shown bottom left. I've had family living in nearly all those streets over the years.

edit - not sure why the link won't work - but it can be googled
